Double Glazing Upgrades Edinburgh Thermally Efficient Sealed Units Rather than replacing your existing double glazing units, why not consider upgrading?
At DGR Double Glazing
Repairs we offer double glazing upgrades in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Traditional double-glazing, sealed units made with two panes of 4 mm glass with an aluminium spacer bar between them, is the most common way of double-glazing and has been for almost 30 years.
Since then, things have moved on. Today's double glazing is a little bit different, mainly with new technology in glass design and processing.
New sealed units found on the most thermally efficient double-glazing are still made with two panes off glass, as before. However, one pane has a coating on the inner surface that reflects heat back towards the room, meaning this glass is commonly known as low-e glass and very energy efficient, saving you money on your energy bills due to the reduction of heat loss. This is through the standard two panes of glass traditionally fitted, over and above this the aluminium spacer bar that has been replaced with a warm edge spacer which reduces heat or cold that has transferred through the glass area - also helping to reduce condensation.
Most new windows fitted today will have the more energy-efficient glass fitted to them, which now you can install too fitting to your existing double glazing without the mess and inconvenience of having your windows taken out and replaced, completely along with the huge expense.
